Xcellerate IT continues to work with Federal Departments to improve their paper-driven business processes. National Measurement Institute leverages on the existing Xcellerate IT document capture contract in place with Department Innovation, Industry, Science and Research to streamline form processing at its NSW headquarter.
Xcellerate IT’s business process automation solution has been selected to automate document handling and processing at another Australian government agency, National Measurement Institute (NMI). NMI is a division of Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) and is Australia's peak measurement body responsible for biological, chemical, legal, physical and trade measurement.
NMI was looking for ways to improve and automate their form processing efficiencies with their existing EDRMS environment and required a flexible and easy to use solution that was capable of extracting hand print on forms. The NMI currently receives thousands of instrument verification forms and servicing licensee lodgments each year from its field inspectors and licensees across the Country. The processing of these paper based forms remains a manual and laborious task despite progressing a large part of the workforce to tablet-based computing solutions. Until all forms migrate online, there is a heavy reliance placed upon data entry staff for accuracy and attention to detail.
The Xcellerate IT solution supports NMI’s current strategy to automate all form processes with a platform to meet the continually changing environment and future capture needs. Xcellerate IT’s proven track record coupled with experience in deploying similar projects within the department were key factors in the decision process.
The Kofax Capture solution provided by Xcellerate IT will enable NMI to streamline forms processing and reduce manual data entry. The Kofax Capture platform is able to recognise hand-written characters in constrained fields on the form and release the meta-data and image into NMI’s data management systems for future retrieval.
