What is Kofax Document Exchange Server?
Kofax Document Exchange Server extends back-office systems that were deployed to automate document-driven business processes to the front office enabling users to initiate these processes from document input devices like multifunction peripherals (MFPs), document scanners,or fax systems.
Document-driven Business Process Automation
Extend Back Office Business Processes to the Front Office
Many organisations have deployed ECM systems, workflow, and line of business applications in the back office to automate document-driven business processes. These processes can now be started in the front office with just a few clicks on the touch screen of a digital copier (or similar equipment) minimising transaction time. Days required to ship paper are transformed into minutes through electronic transmission. Time once spent shuffling, tracking, and filing paper is replaced with customer facing activities.
Flexible yet Familiar Environments Where Users Can Interact with Documents
With Kofax Document Exchange Server users can process documents via the front panel (touch screen) of select digital copiers/MFPs or at their PC with the Kofax Document Exchange – an easy to use, browser-based application. What’s more, these clients can be personalised based on the activities users perform most. These options help to make document capture accessible to virtually any knowledge worker so they can focus on the business process they manage instead of figuring out how to use a document capture solution. Kofax Document Exchange Server also supports the ability to submit documents to a shared queue to prioritise when documents are processed or to minimise the need for customer-facing employees to handle documents.
Better Images for Better Processes with Industry Leading VRS Image Quality
Kofax Document Exchange Server uses Kofax’s award-winning VirtualReScan® (VRS™) technology, widely regarded as the best solution for improving the quality of scanned images. This technology helps to improve processes like recognition and reduces the file size of images to minimise network resources and storage requirements. VRS also offers intelligent features that enable users to “blindly” scan documents with confidence knowing that VRS will correct the orientation of the document, eliminate blank pages, and improve the overall quality of the image.
Enterprise-ready to Ensure Availability and Security
Kofax Document Exchange Server leverages common, Enterprise-class IT infrastructure standards for databases, application servers, and clustering. The ability to run on top of a clustered environment makes Kofax Document Exchange Server highly available. In addition to improving scalability, this minimises the chance of downtime or data loss. Security and ease of configuration are also addressed with LDAP and Active Directory support.
Centralised Command and Control
The centralised Kofax Administration Console is a separate, thin client application included with Kofax Document Exchange Server that gives administrators the ability to automatically discover input devices and back-end destinations, remotely check the status of input devices, set up users and groups, and control user privileges. This minimises the need to send out a technician for system installation or maintenance thereby reducing the costs of deployment and ongoing management.
